the concept of being in-tune - part 2
When there is no audience
When the lights are turned off
When you lay in silence
Who do you think you are?
If I relate the concept of being in tune to selfhood, I refer to a state of understanding yourself and being hyper aware of who you are. You know exactly what is going on or where you are emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually. Tempered with contentment and motivation the understanding of who you are, what value you add, and the stage you are at right now results in an in-tune conceptualization of yourself. Make sense?
How can you be in-tune with yourself spiritually?
My first point of call is spirituality. Studying and understanding God, spirituality, the environment, politics, and everything and anything that adds value to you provides insight that will serve you well. Because you define yourself based on your knowledge of self. How do you define yourself? I can provide an extensive description of myself. But, I have come to realize that the best knowledge I can have of myself is as a child of God. Hence, the first place for me to “find myself” is in the word of God. And being in-tune with his direction.
1. Study: if you don’t know what you believe in, study. Laziness will not solve unbelief. Rather, consistently reading the word of God, asking questions (of the right people), and having conversations will point you in the right direction. You can have a good grasp of concepts (I advise everyone to read Paradise Lost by Milton) pertaining to life and spirituality. Once you have that and you are in-tune with God, your life will play out in a whole different manner.
2. Meditate: David in the Bible stayed awake at night marveling at the wonders of God? Do you do the same? Do you think about God’s goodness to you? Do you speak to him? Tell him about your day? If you are in-tune with God, you will be hyper aware of good, positive, actions, speech, and praise worthy occurrences, instructions, and people.
3. Fellowship: Have you been in a worship service and had goose bumps on your arm. Fellowship and worship with others in spirit and in truth provides an avenue for you to be in-tune with God and your church/worship family in a whole different way.
2 Tim 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Are you in-tune spiritually? Being in-tune is not necessarily a feeling. It’s a knowing and a doing.
